Voy a escribir esto en los dos idiomas porque la mitad de las personas a quienes les hablo en este post leen primero en español.
En Georgia, hay más de 475,000 latinos registrados para votar. En 2024, la participación electoral latina superó el 60%, por encima del promedio nacional (Latino Community Fund Georgia; GALEO 2024 Latino Voter Report).
That's not a "potential" community. That's a base.
And yet, the spreadsheets, the trainings, the data tools that organize that base are almost always in English first, Spanish "if we have time."
We have had time. We chose not to use it.
The DatosLab Spreadsheets course is built differently. Curso completo en español. Google Sheets and Google Forms. Real organizing examples — registros de voluntarios, listas de contactos, formularios de eventos de la comunidad. The course is taught by Irma Torres, who has spent years training Spanish-speaking organizers in the South.
It is not a translated English course. It was designed in Spanish, for Spanish-speaking organizers, with examples drawn from the work they actually do.
Que esto importa: cuando un programa solo existe en inglés, los organizadores hispanohablantes terminan haciendo doble trabajo — primero para entender la herramienta, después para usarla. El tiempo perdido es real. Las comunidades a las que sirven pagan ese costo.
The course is free.
It's free because the language barrier in nonprofit tech training is one of the cheapest barriers in the world to remove and one of the most consistently ignored.
